Westside High School in Jacksonville, Florida, recently hosted a special event organized by the BLKOPS Foundation as part of their Road Show program. The event, titled “Honoring Service: The History and Significance of Veterans Day,” took place during Mr. Daniel Tobias Flint’s U.S. History class. Students had the opportunity to learn about America’s veterans and their legacies through a live program that connected them to the stories featured in the Amazon Prime series, BLK OPS: The Veterans History Project.

Mallory Layton, a Social Studies Specialist at Duval County Public Schools, shared that the program focused on themes of service, resilience, goal-setting, and the importance of living up to one’s full potential. The event aimed to provide students with a hands-on experience in understanding the significance of Veterans Day and the contributions of those who have served.

Duval County Public Schools expressed appreciation for the BLKOPS Foundation’s efforts in creating an engaging and informative experience for the students and highlighting the contributions of veterans in the community.
