Flint, Michigan recovers from cyber attack, enhances security.

The City of Flint, Michigan is making progress in recovering from a cyber attack that began on August 14, 2024. Mayor Sheldon Neeley announced that the city has successfully restored the majority of its key data thanks to the efforts of city staff and external cyber experts. The city has implemented a new network design with enhanced security measures, including Next Generation firewalls to defend against future cyber threats. Most servers have been restored from backups and newly designed systems are being thoroughly tested before being put into operation. Measures to prevent future attacks include the installation of advanced software security on servers and computers within the network. The city is committed to keeping residents and businesses informed as services are gradually brought back online.
