Arrest Made in 1998 Shannon Holihan Murder Case

Staff Report / Flintlocal.org

The Flint Police Department has arrested Eric Dukes (53) in connection with the murder of Shannon Holihan (31), whose body was discovered on May 27, 1998, behind a business on the 2300 block of South Dort Highway. An investigation revealed Holihan died from blunt force trauma, and his 1994 white Corvette was reported missing and has never been located.

In 2023, the department received funding to establish a Cold Case Unit. Following its formation, Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County received a tip related to another case, which helped develop a suspect in Holihan's murder. The investigation conducted by the Cold Case Unit ultimately led to Dukes being charged and arraigned for Felony Murder.

The Flint Police Department emphasizes its commitment to providing closure and justice for families affected by violent crimes. They encourage anyone with information that may aid the Cold Case Unit to reach out to Det. Dwyer at 810-237-6935 or via email at DaDwyer@cityofflint.com. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL (5245), use the P3Tips mobile app, or visit CrimeStoppersofFlint.com.
