Flint Residents Discuss River Protection in Comprehensive Plan

Staff Report / Flintlocal.org

Flint residents recently participated in a discussion about the city’s Comprehensive Plan, focusing on the protection and promotion of the Flint River and its watershed, as well as other local lakes and streams. The event, organized by the Department of Business and Community Services, gathered community input on environmental features, open spaces, and parks.

Mayor Neeley urged residents to engage in shaping Flint’s future and announced a follow-up meeting on Thursday, September 19, at 5:30 p.m. The upcoming meeting at the Hasselbring Senior Community Center will center around community priorities related to public safety, health, and wellness. Participants at the previous meeting were encouraged to vote on whether the objective to protect and enhance the Flint River and its watershed should remain in the Comprehensive Plan update.
