"Heart & Hands Unveils Rare 2019 Auxerrois Wine"
Staff Report / FLXlocal.org
Heart & Hands Wine Company in Union Springs, NY has announced the release of its 2019 Auxerrois, also known as Pinot Auxerrois. This is the first Auxerrois wine grown and crafted in the Finger Lakes region. Only 20 cases of this rare white wine have been produced, making it part of the exclusive ESO Series.
The wine is made from grapes that are a hybrid of Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc. Auxerrois is known for its delicate balance and crisp finish and is traditionally grown in Burgundy and the Alsace-Lorraine region.
The 2019 Auxerrois was grown on the winery’s certified sustainable Estate vineyard, which features limestone-rich soil. The grapes were handpicked into small 30-pound lugs, gently destemmed, and divided for fermentation. Part of the juice was fermented in a stainless steel tank, while the other portion was fermented in a neutral French oak barrel.
Tasting notes for this wine highlight aromas of honeycomb, lychee fruit, and exotic spices. On the palate, flavors of lemon, lime, and fresh apricot are complemented by flinty minerality and a slight salinity, culminating in a bone-dry finish.
Heart & Hands Wine Company is offering this wine for tasting in their tasting room and online purchases.
